Using Photoshop to create Nolli maps from Digimaps. I had already experiment with this for my North Place land use survey last week. However I didn't realise you could isolate the buildings in digimap which made this exercise a lot easier.
Created by the 18th century Italian architect Giovanni Battista Nolli. There is no distinction between inside and out just space and mass. Allowing analsyis of the neighbourhood fabric and it's pattern language.
The purity of graphic language appeals to me and although pleasing to look at with drop shadows or subtle colour/texture. The bold solid shapes communicate space best.
