Bernard Lassus
Pulling at the threads of the traditionally understood concept of a garden, Lassus explores landscape as a form and treats each space as its own entity. A colleague has described his process as follows:
"Form is not primary; it is induced from the articulation of intention."
His works vary greatly in approach, from the sympathetic works at Duisburb-Nord to his highly artificial work here in the Jardin Colas. I find this approach really inspiring as I start my journey as a landscape architect. It makes me realize that the sky is the limit when considering a space, that landscape doesn't have to be conservative and safe. We should not be afraid of pushing boundaries and exploring what a space needs rather than what one thinks people will like.
