I was immediately captivated by the design showcased in the image above. The utilization of CNC milled concrete, resembling topographical forms, resonated with me. The subtle movement and interplay of the water appeared incredibly dynamic. Particularly in the scorching heat of Perth, such elements offering a sense of 'play' serve as a welcome respite.

Upon closer examination, I admired the innovative approach taken with the undulating forms of the play area. However, I couldn't help but notice the absence of shade, which seems like an oversight given the intensity of the Australian sun.

Further research revealed that the site may be attempting to accommodate too many features within a relatively small area, just over 1 hectare. It feels somewhat cramped to include paths, water features, retail spaces, and an amphitheater all within this limited space. Reflecting on my North Place project, I recognize the importance of ensuring that public open spaces serve various functions without becoming cluttered or cramped.
