WIRTZ INTERNATIONAL LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS // 7even Tuinen
This project, discovered subsequent to the main design masterplan for North Place, presents a compelling precedent for the planting scheme. The shapes of the plants closely align with those outlined for North Place, and the ornamental grass complements the harsh angles effectively. The use of corten steel provides an intriguing juxtaposition of colors and textures against the soft greens of the grasses. The possibility of introducing water within the planters at North Place will introduce a new dimension of texture and atmosphere to the site.
As a standalone design, the 7even Tuinen garden offers numerous opportunities for reflection and leisurely walks during lunch breaks for residents, office workers, and shoppers alike. The subtle grey tones of the stone sets and the monotone of warm greens and browns provide a calming contrast to the rich terracottas and blacks of the surrounding buildings. The pleasingly abstract shapes of the paths and the irregular steps contribute to an organic ambiance despite the strong lines, reminiscent of a modern reinterpretation of a traditional walled garden.
